Queen of the Skies in all dimensions Special edition of the Lufthansa Magazin iPad app for the Boeing 747-8
Toronto, ON, May 14, 2012 – Lufthansa recently welcomed the world’s first passenger version of the Boeing 747-8 into its fleet, which will start regular operations June 1 with six weekly flights between Washington’s Dulles International Airport and Frankfurt. To mark the occasion, the airline released a special multimedia edition of the Lufthansa Magazin iPad app dedicated to the “Queen of the Skies.” Exclusive film and image material, as well as a 360° view of the interior of the new jumbo jet provide an introductory tour of the aircraft. Special emphasis is given to the new Business Class cabin, the exclusive First Class and the modern Economy Class.
A glance behind the scenes at the Boeing factory in Everett, Washington is equally fascinating. Users can follow the eleven stages of production – from the delivery of aircraft parts through to the painting and finishing. The app also creates a virtual representation of the maiden flight of the Boeing 747-8 and gives users a first-hand glimpse of pilot training.
Information about the history of the 747 legend and the more than 50-year partnership between Lufthansa and Boeing round off this special edition of the app. Furthermore, users can discover how the jumbo jet came into being and how it got its characteristic hump. The Lufthansa Magazin iPad app has been in existence for more than a year and contains interesting reports on the world of flying that can be viewed onboard as well as on the ground. The app is available in German and English and can be downloaded free from the app store. More information about the new Lufthansa flagship can be found on Lufthansa’s website at: http://lufthansa.com/747-8.
