Lufthansa’s Hans DeHaan Takes on Leadership Role in Canada
Toronto, ON, August 14, 2012 – Deutsche Lufthansa AG has appointed Hans DeHaan as Director, Lufthansa Group Canada, responsible for sales and marketing activities in the region. He is based in Toronto. Mr. DeHaan brings to his new position 15 years of experience within the Lufthansa Group, most recently at the company’s New York headquarters as Director, Leisure and Online Sales for North America.

Lufthansa offers Canadians connections to more than 200 destinations in 84 European, Middle Eastern, African and Asian countries, and I look forward to promoting and selling this vast network in my new position,” said Mr. DeHaan.
Lufthansa’s presence in the Canadian market is increasing as the airline integrates sales and marketing for full group services, including flights on Lufthansa, Austrian and SWISS. Austrian Airlines recently launched its new hub in Vienna and Lufthansa is scheduled to open its new Frankfurt concourse later this year. Both provide Lufthansa’s Canadian travelers with even better connectivity to destinations around the world.
For Hans DeHaan, who started in his new position in Canada on August 1st, this is his second tour of duty in this country. He first joined Lufthansa in 1997 as District Manager in Calgary. He went on to play important international roles within the airline, first as General Manager for The Netherlands in 1998. Later, in 2001, he took on responsibility for the whole of Benelux, including Lufthansa’s operations in Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg. In 2002, he was transferred to Hong Kong as the General Manager for Southern China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.
Mr. DeHaan was born in Amsterdam and later relocated to Canada. He has been a Canadian citizen since 1980 and began his career in the travel industry with KLM in Canada in 1985. While working for the Dutch airline, Mr. DeHaan studied management and economics at the University of Ottawa. He speaks Dutch, English, German and French. He is married and has three children.
